MEET INFORMATION 

        The meet will be run by the SISC 2026 Masters Committee, which consists of Ashburton – QE11- North Canterbury Masters Swimming Clubs. The meet organisers are Alison Fleming, Cherie Summers, Leah Hirschfeld, and Ilonka Buwalda.

        This meet will be swum short course (SC) 25m at the new Parakiore Rec Centre in Christchurch. This is the newest pool in New Zealand and opened in December 2025. 

        Competitors may enter a maximum of 6 individual events (plus relays).

        World Aquatic Rules Governing Masters Swimming and Multi-Classification swimming will apply. 

        Swimmers must be current financial members at time of meet of New Zealand Masters Swimming. 

        All swimmers must be at 18 years old as of 31st December 2026. 

        Age groups are determined by age on 31st December 2026. 

        Over-the-top starts will apply in all events. 

·         Ribbons awarded to 1st, 2nd, 3rd in each 5yr age group, male and female, based on points aggregate.                            

o   Points – 6, 4, 3, 2, 1. Ribbons awarded in relays. 

        A No Time (NT) entry will be deemed to be the average time of swimmers in the respective gender and age group for that event from previous NZ Masters Swimming sanctioned meets.

        Entry fee is $100.00. This includes an afternoon tea at the presentation, one hour after completion of session 3.

        Entries close midnight 7th August 2026. No late entries will be accepted. No refunds after entries close. Refunds for medical withdrawals will be considered on receipt of a medical certificate.

 AT THE POOL

        Please register when you arrive.     

        Marshalling for events:  Please head to the marshalling area which is the north end of the pool, near   the registration table.

        Please listen for the marshalling announcement for each event, and report 4 heats prior to yours.

We are grateful to Debbie Rahurahu and Swimming Canterbury West Coast, for their assistance in running this event. 

RECORDS

        If you are attempting to break a NZMS Record, please fill out a form at the registration desk. Organisers will let the Referee and Marshall know before the start of the session. If you don’t do this, your record may not be ratified.

        For 1500m freestyle event and the 800m event, swimmers competing in the 1500m event can opt to have their 800m time recorded, which will count as two separate events. Contact the meet Director as soon as you arrive on Friday night.

        NZMS Records Sheets will be displayed at the Registration desk.  

RELAYS

        All Relays - Teams must have their entries for Session 2 relays handed in to the announcer’s desk by the start of Session 2. For the relays at the end of session 3, must have their entries handed in to the announcer’s desk by the start of session 3.  Relay forms will be available from the registration desk. Teams of Mixed Relays must consist of 2 men and 2 women from the same club.

MULTI-CLASSIFICATION RULES /CONDITIONS

        Swimmers must hold at least a provisional classification to compete as a multi-class swimmer. 

        If a swimmer does not yet have a classification, they must contact Cameron Leslie at cameron@swimming.org.nz or Ilonka at least one month prior to the event to arrange classification.

        Please note that this process may require medical assessments, and doctor availability can vary, so early planning is essential.

        Multi-class swimmers are eligible to participate in all events, including relays.

        Swimmers with a partial classification may only compete as multi-class swimmers in events applicable to their classification.

        Disqualifications:- Classified swimmers will be officiated in accordance with World Para Swimming rules, including in-water judging where applicable.

        Awards: Ribbons will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each 5-year age group, per gender, within the multi-class category.

        Placings will be determined based on aggregate points (6, 4, 3, 2, 1).

        Ribbons will also be awarded for multi-classification relay events.

FOOD AND SOCIAL FUNCTION 

        A presentation and afternoon tea will be held one hour after completion of session 3. The cost of the afternoon tea is included in your entry fee. Please stay for a cuppa and a catch-up. We will be in the VIP suite on the top floor of the Rec Centre.

COME FOR THE WEEKEND

Mt Hutt Ski Area is one hour plus away, and is a winter playground! The Staveley Ice Skating Rink, and the new Staveley Walkway are popular weekend destinations. So come to Canterbury for the weekend!

There is ample accommodation in Christchurch. Book early for cheap rates. Parakiore is about a 20 minute drive from Christchurch Airport, except for rush-hour traffic!
